Do the Ping Thing

Blog directories let you tell them to come on down and feed on your newest entries by way of something called a ping or pinging. It's like this little eletronic alarm that goes off when you make a new entry.

That way they know to visit your site, only when you have updated. Maybe you know that, maybe you don't. But I just discovered a fairly new service that will ping somewhere around 12 directories for you at once. Most blog software can be set to do one or two but you had to do the rest yourself.

Now you can visit Ping-O-Matic and do it all with one click. Do this whenever your update your blog and you will find that more and more people begin to notice you.

Create Some Blogging Momentum With Your New Blog

Okay, you've launched your new blog and there it is - your first entry - cool right, kind of lonely looking though all by itself though.

Here's a little tip to give your blog some momentum. Create a minimum of 10 really good posts (think past articles or newsletters or just take the time to do it.) Then post each one but back date them about every 3 days going back at least a month, maybe two. Viola, you've been blogging for months now.

It's kind of like that new checking account, nobody wants to take that check # 1, so you start the new account at #1001. When it comes to blogs, people want to feel like you've been at it a bit. Unfortunately there are bunch of blogs out there with 2 or 3 posts and nothing more.
