How To Use Blog Comments
Comments on blogs have gotten a bad rap of late due to all the evil people out there that think posting comment spam is somehow going to get their venture noticed. It's a shame really because, first of all, those spammy comments that show up on blogs do no good at all for that purpose and, a lot of blogs have disabled their commenting feature to fight off the useless spam.
The ability to add a comment on a blog is one of the things that makes them so useful. Comments, when written as intended, add to the texture of a topic and can really support the content of the blog.
As a blogging strategy get used to both accepting and adding comments.
Encourage readers to post comments on your blog by asking for involvement. Pose questions. Ask your readers what they think. Call for suggestions or examples. Even ask for help. This type of writing will help keep your readers interested in coming back.
When you receive a comment, think about adding your comment to the thread or email the commenter thanking them. This takes some extra effort but, you may find that involving your readers in discussions is a great way to get them coming back and posting about your blog on their blog.
Adding comments, when you really have something to add, to other blogs is also a good way to get some extra notice of your blog. Blog owners may come by out of curiosity, some blogs syndicate their comments and blog readers will often follow a comment back to your blog.
Networking makes the blog world go around and comments are the blog version of networking.

I always either leave a return comment or email someone who comments on my site. It makes the site more interactive and friendly -- plus, I've met some great people this way!

I also love to add comments. The ability to be able to hold a "conversation" with readers is what really sets the plogging platform apart from traditional websites. I think of myself as doing a favor to a fellow blogger when I post a comment.
